Mitch Schaefer, Ph.D., PAS
Dr. Mitch Schaefer grew up on a diversified livestock and crop farm in Southeast Minnesota. He attended the University of Wisconsin – River Falls for his B.S. in Animal Science, and the University of Wisconsin for his M.S. and Ph.D. While at the University of Wisconsin, Mitch was involved with over 50 research trials utilizing stocker and feedlot cattle.

Dr. Schaefer works with feedlots, backgrounders, stockers, cow-calf and food industry co-product producers. His experience with yearlings, calves, Holsteins and Holstein crossbreds creates a variety of approaches to raise cattle.

Mitch is a member of the American Society of Animal Science, Plains Nutrition Council, American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists and several industry committees. He and his family currently reside in Northeast Iowa.
